Kahuna is not your normal "Dachshund". While his mother is mostly dachshund, Kahuna is a brilliant mix. He has a gorgeous brindle coat and an athletic build with never ending, long legs.

Kahuna is cautious at first, prefers to snuggle close to a person he trusts, and may bark if uncomfortable in a new situation. He is a gentle giant, with legs over 18 inches long, that even he sometimes trips over. He does well with other dogs, and would prefer a home with a dog to play with. He "talks" a lot while playing and it may startle you at first, but you'll realize that is just how he plays. He will bark if he is scared or uneasy with someone approaching him.

Kahuna is potty trained, does excellent with a doggie door, and is learning commands. He can sit, stay, and shake already. When going to pick him up, he'll roll on his back and want his belly rubbed first. He does like to snuggle, with humans and dogs alike. He just needs a patient family who will allow him the time he needs to adjust and get comfortable with them. Please, no young children that will grab at him or make sudden movements towards him as he will get scared.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
