Greta known as Purtie Gertie to her foster family  is a sweet older lady.  She just wants to cuddle and is a cutie.  She likes to be around her person and likes to sit on couch.She will bark when she wants up on the couch.  Of course she needs picked up and put down off the furniture.  She is house trained and will go to the door when she wants out.  At night she sometimes needs to go out to potty.  She sleeps in a separate room with the family dog.  

She isn't one for spending much time outdoors sunbathing with other dogs.  She just wants to do her business and come back in.  She will snarl occasionally at them when they come into her space or when she is sitting on couch with her foster mom but has not been aggressive. She gets along with other dogs, big and little. 

She has been diagnosed with cushings and takes her meds without any problems.  She is fed three small meals a day as she seems like she's always hungry but what dachshund doesn't.  The doctor is hoping a change in her medicine will reduce her appetite. She is on a schedule and goes out about 1 hr after her meds to potty.  

She is fully vetted and ready for adoption.  She will need medicine for her cushings disease but don't let that stop you from making her a part of  your family.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
