Pablo is a young 13.1/2 lb. dapple, although he appears more like a red dachshund.  He has a light dusting of beige hair on his sides and almost a black strip down his back.  He has one beautiful white spot on the side of his neck.  But while his muted markings do not make a huge fashion statement his unusually calm and gentle nature makes him truly unique at his young age.    

Pablo is still growing his personality and his foster family is making new discoveries every day.  He loves to be pet, and when you stop he will nudge for more.  He likes being in a lap or lying near his human.  He likes toys and has a gentle way of playing.  He loves lying in the sun or adventuring outside chasing squirrels with the other foster dogs in the house.  He will take treats in a very sweet mannerly way.

He is housetrained and has accepted being in a kennel but prefers to sleep in the bed with the other foster dogs. 

He gets along well with all adults and the other dogs in the house but may need to be around only older children.  He can be a little protective of his food at feeding time, but his Foster mom is working on his trust through this and he is showing signs of improvement.

Pablo is most definitely very sweet, gentle and quiet with an angelic look out his eyes. The right family will need to give him time to adjust to yet another change in his life, but we are confident he will accept new surroundings in the same way he has in the foster’s home.  There is a future lifetime of love to have from this little guy.

PUPDATE:  Pablo has tested light heartworm positive.  He is available for adoption under a heartworm positive contract.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
