My name is Wendy Tater-Tot and now that my puppies are all going to their own homes, I'm thinking it might be time to find my furever home. I was found wandering the streets pregnant and came into DDRTX with my 8 puppies. I was a good mother but my real dream is find a home where I will feel safe, secure, and have loads of trust in my people..... but I know that will take some time on my part and patience in my adopter's part. You see, I REALLY want to be doted on and loved like I'm the most important dog alive, but I'm quite fearful at first and will need special care and understanding. I show my fear by barking but I have never bit anyone. It took my fosters about a month for me to feel safe with both of them, but they think that with their help, it will be much faster with a new, kind, dedicated family who cares about me and wants me to feel safe and happy. They've been taking me to the dog park every day to help me meet new people and I've been making a lot of progress! We have a plan to make things go as smooth as possible but what you really need to keep in mind is that the beginning stuff won't last long and we will work through it together. The thing is, I am a PERFECT dog: I adore pets and scratches, love to cuddle, I'm house trained, leash trained, ok with a crate, good with other dogs, not into destroying things, I'm gentle, sweet, and just want to be near humans. I love my foster people and am very calm with them. I'm very smart and figured out the doggie door at my foster home on the first day so I'm not lacking in the intelligence department, I've just had enough stuff in my short life that I'm wary of new people. So yes, I'm scared at first, and my fear makes me a special needs dog, but once I come to trust you, I trust fully and with my whole self. I like toys and running in the yard. I'm house trained already, need a bit of work on boundaries (who says you need personal space when I want to cuddle and be close to you?), and I like all kinds of other dogs because I do love to play once I'm comfortable with them. I'm really good on a leash and love to go places in the car. Really, once I know that I'm with a safe person I can trust, I'm a wonderful dog... I just need someone to help me feel safe and confident. Someone who understands that being hurt in the past can be hard to get over and sometimes, we need a little help from a friend... we've all been there. Do you think you could be my someone, my friend? Do you think you might be my someone? Do you have the patience and kindness to help a girl like me? I'll be your absolute best friend. Put in your application today.
