Sadie is a 9-year-old, potty-trained dachshund who weighs about 16 pounds. She came from a very loving home, and it shows! Sadie is a GOOD dog... just a bit on the spoiled side. Her owner had to go into assisted living and couldn't take Sadie with her. Sadie is smart, very healthy, and seems to have two modes: full speed or full rest! She loves running and exploring, and she also loves snoozing the day away. She's interested in meeting every human she meets, and most dogs too, but she isn't likely to entertain/play with other dogs.

She does NOT like cats, and she'll become your little home defender -- she will bark to protect you from any strange noises outside. She likes to be snuggled close to you and will ask for attention, but she does not like to be picked up. She doesn't like to be crated or held, and car rides are not on the top of her list either. Sadie LOVES meeting people, is super friendly with adult house guests, and will demand to be petted and acknowledged.

Sadie is on a special diet and has to stay on the prescription food for the rest of her life to keep her tummy happy.

burrowing under blankies
playing with her teddy bear
exploring/walking
running to the door as soon as she hears the knob turn

Patient!
No children
No cats
Preferably the only dog but will get along with calm animals that give her space.
Absolutely NO table food or food other than her special food … at all!

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.
