Ollie is what foster mom calls a "handsome devil". This gorgeous boy is 18 months old and tweenie-to-standard size - roughly 20 lbs and a lucky double dapple. Ollie does not have any hearing nor vision issues, but anyone considering this adorable guy needs to have an understanding of some very specific needs.

Ollie has lived in two homes in his short life. Not much is known about his first home but in his last home Ollie was loved and cherished. However due to the family's circumstances, the dynamic was not working out. He is a sweet and very smart boy but can get nervous around kids.

The perfect home would give Ollie mostly undivided love and attention. Because of his insecurities he can get a bit territorial. No aggression has been shown, mostly some mild nervousness and anxiety issues. He has been around other dogs but it really depends on the other dogs. Ideally Ollie should be an only child, but if another dog is present in the home, a confident, dominant personality is a must.

The perfect adopter needs to have some understanding of dachshunds and preferably experience with resource-guarding issues. Although no aggression has been observed, we are still learning about Ollie and have noticed that he can be reactive when he feels threatened. We believe that with love, patience and some basic training, Ollie can be the best, most faithful companion for the right person. All he needs is a calm environment in an understanding home.

Ollie loves a good lap, is housebroken, walks well on the leash and enjoys toys, especially balls. A yard to run around and explore is required for this busy guy. When he's not playing with toys, Ollie is able to relax on the couch with his humans.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.
