Meet Layla Ruby.  She is an 6 year old dachshund mix.  She found herself as a stray at a local shelter.  She came into our rescue with a skin and ear infections.  Despite all of this, she is being a sweet dog.  She adores her foster humans in the house, she probably would not get a good fit for kids. She wants to be petted and loved on and really enjoys exploring the back yard and following the humans around.  The foster parents are thinking she hasn't been socialized a lot with other dogs and can be protective over the humans in the house.  She can be  touchy with the smaller dog in her foster home but with time, it is getting better.  She is learning to play with the bigger dog in her foster home. She doesn't seem to be too fond of cats. She is a lively and energetic pup, she's always on the move and rarely stays still for long.  She enjoys her independence and will retreat to her crate whenever she feels like it:).  She will make an excellent companion for someone who isn't overly social and would love to be the only dog 

Layla is not ready for adoption yet.  She is under a vets care for her skin/yeast infections and ear infections.  She has a follow up vet appointment soon to make sure that her skin and ears are healing.  If you would like to sponsor her during this time, please click go to the sponsorship page and click on her name.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
