Chico Rio is a 7 year old handsome boy who has slowly been opening up and asking for some much needed belly rubs, kisses and cuddles.

Chico is potty trained, great in a kennel, and good with all dogs. He has not interacted with cats. Some of Chico’s favorite activities include short walks, treats and chewing on his benebone toys. Chico is still a little shy when meeting new people, so he would do best in a home with older children or adults that can give him some gentle love, comfort and time to open up. He’s a very sweet boy who loves to lay by you and follow you wherever you go.

Chico has a condition called Cushing’s Disease where his adrenal glands overproduce certain hormones. He will need lifelong medication and follow up blood tests. Rest assured, prognosis is usually good with treatment and this does not deter him from living a normal lifestyle. Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.
