About Wilbur

Wilbur - What a happy little boy! I just picked up Wilbur this weekend from a bad situation, his previous name was patches because he's a black and tan dapple (not a silver dapple!) he has tan dapples in his black coat, very handsome little guy. He is very thin and skinny right now, but with good food, vitamins and health care, he will be shiny and perky in no time at all! I would guess that he should be about 12 or 13 pounds when he fills out. He goes to the vet later this week and I'll update his bio as soon as I get a full vet report. He is neutered, treated for worms and parasites; now all we have to do is determine his proper age, weight and heartworm status. UPDATE 09/12/04 - Well, the news on Wilbur is not as rosy as I'd hoped. Wilbur is about 4.5 years old and is heartworm positive. He will have to undergo the heartworm treatment and if all goes well, he should be available for adoption in about two months. His most expressive feature is his almost human-like eyes, I swear this boy knows exactly what I'm saying to him! He may be four, but he plays with the younger pups around here like he's only a baby himself! I would have guessed his age to be around a year, but vet says his teeth show us about 4.5 years of build up. He will be ready to consider homes soon, so please think about adopting this precious kid! Texas adoption or foster applications only please. Update for Happy Endings: Wilbur - OMG. I LOVE this dog! He's a little human person in a precious dachshund body. He's alert, happy, joyful, and sweet. His hearworms are all gone, and he lives with a wonderful, adoring, and attentive new daddy in San Antonio, where I am quite certain, he will be loved until the end of his days. This fellow with the human eyes has been a wonderful addition to our rescue family, I'm so glad that he found his perfect, permanent home!
