Jasper - Jasper is about 4 1/2 years of age, and weighs 13 pounds. Jasper was originally sort of timid due to what I feel was abuse or being scared by a man, but his true personality has come out in rescue!! He is outgoing, protective, wonderful, loyal, kissy, loves to play, good w/ female dogs (no males please). Jasper loves lap time and being held in your arms, he is neutered, current on shots, heartworm negative and on preventative. Jasper is ready to get settled into a new forever home where he will never know abuse, neglect or loneliness again. He's great with Mysty and absolutely adores her. He needs guidance and persistence with housetraining as he's a wonderful, hard headed little German dog. As with Mysty, Jasper would do best with no young or small children, and must have a fenced yard so he will feel safe and secure. He is used to a doggie door, and loves to play with his food bowl, he'll set aside a perfectly good squeaky toy to toss his food bowl around and chew on it! This is one great little dog! IF you are interested in two adorable little black and tans, have a fenced yard, doggie door, no small children, no cats, please, please consider adopting this beautiful pair! (see below for special considerations on single adoption of Jasper) Mysty and Jasper - Mysty and Jasper are INSEPARABLE. These two have found their soul mates and it's each other. If you think you would love to adopt an adorable and beautiful pair of little black and tans, these two are amazingly fun, playful, outgoing (once they know you won't hurt them!), both love lap time and playing with their squeaky toys!! They run the yard and chase squirrels, cats and each other. They snuggle together, play together, and sleep together. Mysty does not like other girl dogs, and Jasper does not like other boy dogs, but together, they are amazingly perfect! Jasper and Mysty will be considered for being separated for adoption. However, Jasper cannot have a home with men in it and Mysty cannot have a home with other female dogs in it. Texas adoption or foster applications only please. Mysty and Jasper finally got adopted to a perfect home! Lordy, for over two years these two were with me, waiting, and waiting patiently, for the right home to come along. Jasper was severely beaten by men and would never accept them, so a home with no men was preferred, and Mysty hates all other dogs except Jasper, so the home could not have other pets at all, either. I tried to adopt them separately, but that did not work, so finally, their new people saw them, met them and adore them! YIPPEE!! A home where these two independent and adorable black and tan partners would be able to stay together forever! They live in San Antonio with a great three generation family who think these two little ones hung the moon! (sigh...).

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
