11.27.09 Axel - we all love Axel - his outgoing, friendly personality and and fabulous temperament make him the ideal little buddy! We can't believe that anyone would hurt a little happy dog like him, but he has apparently been severely abused by acid or something similar, having been poured in a checkerboard pattern on his back causing severe burns, he's healed up, but will have massive scarring on his back because of the abuse. We can only imagine the pain this little fella has been through, so we find it encouraging that his personality is so wonderful! Axel is only about 12 to 16 months of age and fully vetted, healthy, and ready for a home. Those of you meet him, will absolutely fall in love with this boy! 11.27.09 Update: Axel is an outgoing, friendly, red short haired boy who is approximately 12-14 months old. Size wise he's a nice svelte tweenie being around 17.6 lbs. . He is in a foster home with 6 other small dogs, loves to play and gets along with everyone. He would really enjoy the company of another dog in his furever home. Axel has mastered the doggy door and is being walked every day so that he will have nice leash manners. He's always ready for a game of fetch or a cuddle on your lap. He does enjoy sleeping under the covers at night :) Axel's sweet personality and easy-going nature just melted his foster mom's heart. One look at those precious eyes and you will be hooked too! He is a real joy to have around and will make a wonderful addition to any family. 3.25.10 Update Axel is quite honestly, the best dog we have in rescue. He's perfect! Why is he still here?! Axel's back was horribly burned with some type of acid and has left scarring - but that's done nothing to his incredible personality and temperament!!
