Well, I hear the third time's a charm! I sure hope that's true! I was rescued once before and was happy to find a loving home.  Then, my person passed away and I have to start all over again? Well, I'm up for the challenge, how about you? I'm about 7 years old and a quiet, well behaved boy.  I just love the company of other dogs! My previous person loved me a lot (and gave me lots of treats,) and I need to shed a few pounds. Luckily, I love to take leash walks, so the exercise part is a snap!  I can be a bit reserved around new people, but give me a day or two and I'll be ready to adore you with all my heart! My manners are great and my outlook is bright! My winning personality and my ability to appreciate my people, make a winning combination! There's only one thing missing to complete my life story... and that's a home with you!

7.14.08 Nick - What can I say about Nick? He really really needs to loose about 18 to 20 pounds! I'm just guessing at his weight and will get it confirmed, but I'm guessing around 35 pounds... He came into rescue morbidly obese and fearful of being picked up, I suspect because it hurts him due to the excessive weight he has on frame. Nicky is a 2-3 year old longhaired silver dapple sweetie pie - it takes him some time to adjust to strangers, but once he does, he loves the petting, ear scratches and a gentle voice. More to come on Nicky as we get some weight off him and get him checked out by the vet. 7.25.08 Nick, he's so obese, we have him on a strict diet and had his thyroid checked. He is absolutely fine, no problems, just likes his food, so we are giving him less of it, and more exercise. He's very shy at first with strangers, but then warms up. He's so heavy that it hurts him to be lifted up, so he really does not like to be picked up. A calm and loving home would be best for Nicky! Update 10.03.04. Look at my pretty svelt body now!!! These are comments from my foster mom,"I JUST HAVE GROWN SO FOND OF NICKI...IT'S BEEN HARD FOR ME TO REALIZE THAT HE WONT BE ABLE TO STAY WITH US...HE JUST HAS SUCH A CUTE DISPOSITION AND ANYBODY THAT WOULDN'T LOVE HIM IS SILLY...HE ROLLS OVER TO HIS BACK WITH HIS FEET IN THE AIR, HE TRIES TO GET IN YOUR LAP EITHER ON THE COUCH OR IN THE RECLINER SO WE HAVE LITTLE STEPS SO HE CAN GET UP, OR HE LETS ME PICK ME UP TOO...HE IS JUST SO LOVEABLE AND HAS A BIG HEART....HES A HAPPY PUP AND DOING WELL....EVERYDAY HE RUNS MORE AND PLAYS LONGER." 12.10.08 Nick - What can I say about Nick? He's a truly wonderful dog who is extremely obese. He's a long haired silver dapple with a happy little, jolly fat man personality! He weighs 35 pounds and is on a strict diet and exercise program to loose some weight, so if you like to walk and exercise, take Nickademus with you! Nick is only 3 years of age and very gentle personality - except he dislikes being picked up, I suspect due to the weight, it hurts to be lifted. His thryoid was checked, he's normal. He's neutered, current on everything and chipped. His foster mom says he's so cute she can't believe someone out there would love him silly! He rolls over on his back for belly rubs and he's got a big heart. TEXAS APPLICATIONS ONLY. PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE WWW.DDRTX.ORG AND COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION SOON.
