I had a family once, not so long ago...but for some reason they decided to take me on a car ride and leave me at the shelter. I'm only about 2 years old and a small standard around 21 lbs with a unique Chocolate/Isabella Dapple coat. People can’t stop saying how beautiful I am.  I even have great house manners, do all my business outside and ride nicely in the car! I love to receive affection and give the sweetest kisses in return, but I'm not one to try to take up all your lap space. Just having you're near is enough to make me happy and it comforts me knowing I'm not alone. Should you look at me or we have a nice talk, my tail and the rest of my behind wags a mile a minute!  I enjoy spending some time outside, chasing a few squirrels and getting some sun, but I'd really prefer to spend most of my time just lounging around the house on a soft cushion or pillow.  I enjoy the company of male dogs best. If they like play I’ll join in as long as they are too pushy.  Let’s just leave out of any kitties who might think of sharing my space please. Since I tend to eat too fast, a ball in my dish reminds me it okay to go slow.  My confidence is building, but I still need someone to be patient and help me feel secure. If you approach too quickly, or from above, I can feel a bit scared and duck my head. It’s important I have a calm environment that soothes me and where I feel extra safe.  I’ve learned to appreciate having my own special quiet place and can appreciate a nice crate, especially during the night! I'm pretty athletic and can jump over a baby gate, in hopes of finding some company. Now that we've been properly introduced, all that's left is for me to go home with you!

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
