Dixie Rose is a happy, sweet and loving very petite mini dachshund.  "Small in stature but grand in affection" is her motto.  She is a fan of routine, picks up quickly on our expectations for her.  She already knows her dinner schedule and is well potty-trained, indicating her keen intelligence. There is a little clown in her, and her foster parents find themselves laughing at her antics on several occasions.  Dixie has a big personality and she isn't afraid to exert herself with larger dogs.  Most of the big dogs in her home just look at her quizzically when she growls at them.  She takes a more than curious interest in the cats.  The family cats tolerate her sniffing and stalking well - but she would need to be cautiously introduced to other cats.  She loves to burrow into blankets and sheets and she enjoys tucking into a warm lap or a good snuggle with one of the other dogs, yet she is not very demanding of petting or treats; simple company is all she craves (preferably the company of men, who she seems to prefer -slightly- when bestowing her abundant kisses).  She has met young children and done well, but she is so petite she would need to be supervised in interactions or she might easily get hurt.

Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization with focus on rescue and adoption of pure breed Dachshunds.  All dogs are fully vetted and housed on private property.  Meetings are scheduled upon adoption approval.  Thank you for your continued support to the rescue and shelter communities!  Opt to Adopt!
