Our precious, sweet Ebony Lace crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 3, 2022. From the moment she entered our lives, we knew she was a very special soul and we vowed that we would do everything in our power to let her know she was deeply loved and treasured. Having come from a history of abuse and trauma, she was slow to trust and to adjust to her new home. Gradually, however, with much love from her humans and from her canine buddies, Kato (previously Avocado) and later Chloe (previously Janet), with whom she readily bonded, she began to come out of her shell, and even to assert herself. She loved to go for rides in the car and sit in her car seat. Our hearts filled with love and pride as we watched her tail wag wildly and her body jump off the floor as if levitating when we announced "Let's go bye-bye" before getting in the car. She immediately bonded with our mother and often climbed her doggie stairs to sit beside her on the recliner. She was also very tolerant of her other humans and allowed herself to be dressed in outfits for every holiday, and to be featured in annual Christmas cards wearing matching outfits. She also had a very assertive nature at times. She expected her meals and treats on a specific schedule and could be very vocal if there was a delay. Early on we made up a song to sing to her when she was scared or nervous. Hearing it she would turn to us in recognition and gradually relax. We are thankful for the wonderful years we had with Ebony Lace. We miss her greatly. She brought us much joy and happiness.

Rest peacefully, our sweet little Eli. You will be forever missed and forever loved. ❤
