There comes a time where we must say goodbye to our beloved companions. This page is dedicated to all those wonderful little dogs who have brought joy to our lives. If you would like to post a memorial for a loved one, please email ddrtxinfo@gmail.com with a picture of your pet and your message. A donation to DDRTX is appreciated and can be made by clicking the Donate button below. The donation in honor of your dachshund will go towards the loving care of many dachshunds in need.

I had smooth hair Dachshunds before, but always wanted a long hair; while in Germany that was one of my dreams when getting back to the states. So our first Christmas back, Gus was given to me (a total and complete surprise) by Lou. Lou picked out Gus when he was first born and was assured he was a long hair, well nobody told Gus that! Not having a long hair ever, thought maybe it would grow, well it didn't and so I called the breeder and she said in a litter when mommy is longhaired and daddy is not you can get both and said she would take him back in exchange for a longhair, there was no way anyone was going to take my Gus away, so she said she had two longhair left from a litter and so we decided Gus needed a Buddy. They were true companions to both us and each other and gave us such joy and laughter-who needs TV when you have two Doxies playing!! We lost Gus when he was fourteen years four months, he was very sick and when we had to put him to sleep, I just held him and kept thanking him for all the joy he brought to us. We thought Buddy would die of a broken heart after losing his life long friend, but Buddy lived to seventeen years eight months and that was after losing the use of his back legs twice and getting him back to walking twice with acupuncture.
We have the ashes of Gus and Buddy on our mantel, they are always with us.

Last night we went to bed without snuggling with you. Today you weren't here for morning kisses. Its day one without you and its really, really tough. We will always love you.
