Hazel was found in Houston with her puppies; she was severely malnourished and all her puppies eventually died except for one. The one surviving puppy was adopted by Hazel’s foster mom, Cynthia Smith, and named TT. TT died a few months after Hazel did. One wonders if Hazel knew it was time for her to go to the Rainbow Bridge to be there for ALL her puppies. Hazel never met a stranger … she loved everyone despite her traumatic background. When found in Houston, she had an injured eye that was felt to be due to someone kicking her. Up until she died, she would sometimes shriek and coward in fear whenever someone lifted their leg.
I hope she’s happy wherever she is. She sure made us happy. We loved her so much … and miss her bat-ears flapping when running down the hallway, her flip-flopping in front of the space heater like a pancake, and her jumping to get under the covers at night.

Our precious, sweet Ebony Lace crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 3, 2022. From the moment she entered our lives, we knew she was a very special soul and we vowed that we would do everything in our power to let her know she was deeply loved and treasured. Having come from a history of abuse and trauma, she was slow to trust and to adjust to her new home. Gradually, however, with much love from her humans and from her canine buddies, Kato (previously Avocado) and later Chloe (previously Janet), with whom she readily bonded, she began to come out of her shell, and even to assert herself. She loved to go for rides in the car and sit in her car seat. Our hearts filled with love and pride as we watched her tail wag wildly and her body jump off the floor as if levitating when we announced "Let's go bye-bye" before getting in the car. She immediately bonded with our mother and often climbed her doggie stairs to sit beside her on the recliner. She was also very tolerant of her other humans and allowed herself to be dressed in outfits for every holiday, and to be featured in annual Christmas cards wearing matching outfits. She also had a very assertive nature at times. She expected her meals and treats on a specific schedule and could be very vocal if there was a delay. Early on we made up a song to sing to her when she was scared or nervous. Hearing it she would turn to us in recognition and gradually relax. We are thankful for the wonderful years we had with Ebony Lace. We miss her greatly. She brought us much joy and happiness.

In memory of my lovely Snitzi Lynne, who left us two months ago. Snitzi was a fighter. She recovered from surgery for a ruptured neck disc, regaining full use of her legs; she recovered from surgery for bladder cancer and treatment; and after being diagnosed with diabetes, we monitored her blood sugar at home and gave her insulin. In the end, she went very suddenly from acute pneumonia. She radiated pure love and we miss her so much

Amelie Elise, a DDRTX hero, died unexpectedly after anesthesia for dental work on March 29, 2022, at about the age of 12.
Adopted in 2018 by Jerry and Cindy, she became 'Daisy' to us, and quickly became the light of our lives, filling any room with her energy, her inquisitive pretty eyes, and her cheeky personality! Prior to being our sweetheart, she was rehabbed by DDRTX for extreme obesity which had paralyzed her hind legs. What a success story, thank you, DDRTX and foster mom, Andrea!
Daisy, our hearts are aching with the sorrow of the complete emptiness of losing you too soon. We are still head over heels in love with you, and pray God will let us meet again.

In Memory Of Henrietta
She survived Parvo to come home with me. In our twelve years together, she filled each day with love and joy. She gave all she had to give, and accomplished all that she was meant to do. She passed peacefully in my arms before her suffering was allowed to become too great. She carries her piece of my heart with her to the Bridge where I know she watches for me.
Until then, I will miss her every day.
